STORY OF JONAH BIBLE
In the story of Jonah, Jonah is a very good guy. He follows the commandments of God and thereby god also loved him back. Jonah lives in Israel and loves his family members a lot. He is a very social person and loves to interact with others. As per god’s rules of loving others, Jonah would also be friendly with others. Whereas he would also comply god’s rest of the commandments.
However, people loved him too due to his decorum towards themselves. Although Jonah’s priority used to be always to make sure that he does not breach god’s rules whatsoever. Thereby god also had an extreme affection towards Jonah.
One day God appears to Jonah and tells him to visit Nineveh. Nineveh was a neighbouring country of Israel. Whereas the people of Nineveh were exactly contrary to the citizens of Israel. They completely indulged in sins and would disrespect god through their deeds.
But God did not want to perish his own creation as he did earlier and then repented during Noah’s time. Because our father really loves us immensely and literally there is no boundary that can bind it within itself. consequently, we just need to respect and accept our father as we respect our own parents. Although it’s apparently needless to say that our almighty God loves us unconditionally and there is no comparison for his love. Hence we just need to pay back that love to him just by complying with his commandments. Our duty should be to live a good life and make this beautiful world worth living.
Getting back to the story, our almighty god just wanted to realize the mistakes of the citizens of Nineveh. Hence he asks Jonah to visit Nineveh and peddle his enlightenments to them. So that when they understand their mistakes, they send them back and follow the right path again.
But Jonah in the pretext of not visiting Nineveh starts badmouthing against the citizens of Nineveh from the god. Whereas god still emphasizes to do so, as he just did not want anyone to miss the immortal life in heaven. God also wanted to spread his priceless enlightenments to them as they were completely unaware of that too. Consequently punishing without the warning was completely unfair in god’s eyes and hence he wanted to fulfil his needs through Jonah.
JONAH TRIES TO FOOL GOD
Whereas Jonah just did not want to visit Nineveh as he already hated that place due to the place being so notorious for several criminal activities occurring there. But Jonah could not also directly abjure god’s command too. So he decides to deceit god instead.
The very next day he pretends to depart for Nineveh but he was not actually planning to go there. Thereby after wandering miles and miles from narrow streets to endless deserts, Jonah finally reaches a shore of a sea.
There he sees a huge ship on the shore. He plans to hide in it so that God does not find him. Although it’s quite funny that he did not have any idea about our almighty god. However, he does the same as per his plans. As Jonah just did not want to show up to god, he decides to sleep and so as he does.
But abruptly in the midst of the journey, a monstrous storm comes in their way. The striking thunders and the humongous waves around the ship leave everyone baffled. Whereas Jonah was still sleeping in the lower region of the ship unaware of that monstrous storm.
Although during the chaos, a person finds him sleeping so he awakes him promptly and asks to pray from his god. Whereas others were also busy doing the same, as they believed that only God could save them.
The baffled Jonah readily gets up and notices everyone praying from their fake gods. Consequently, he promptly stops them from doing that. Thereafter Jonah finally erupts the truth about his betrayal from the almighty god.
He also explains that it was none other than his one and only God who was doing that all. Meanwhile, Jonah also accepts his mistakes and realizes the sensitivity of the job God gave him.
Thereafter he finds nothing better than dying as he just could not bear the pain of disobeying his father. Hence Jonah with an adamant decision urges few men from the ship to throw him into the sea. Although Jonah also believed that if God forgives him then he would definitely save his life.
Nonetheless, the people in the ship decides not to throw him into the deadly sea. Because they find it absolutely injustice or rather a grave crime to save their lives.
Hence they start throwing all the other unnecessary bulky items in the sea. so that it does not drown. But notwithstanding each passing moment, the situation seems to get worse. Meanwhile, Jonah was constantly propelling them to throw him in the sea.
JONAH IN THE SEA
At last with no option left few men to throw Jonah in the sea. Whereas as they throw Jonah in the sea, the storm wipes out just like magic.
On the other side, Jonah was striving to protect his life from the deadly waves of the hungry sea. Although our God is so benign and merciful that he gives chances even to a stubborn culprit. Consequently, he does the same to Jonah in the story of Jonah.
God sends a big whale and makes her engulf Jonah to save his life. Thereafter according to the story of Jonah she keeps him in her belly for three days and nights.
Meanwhile, Jonah also keeps praying from his god and repents for his mistakes too. Jonah thoroughly believed that it was the almighty god who had sent that whale to rescue him. Hence he was constantly praying to God expecting that God would forgive him.
Although the same thing happens. Actually, god exactly after three days makes the whale vomit so that Jonah also comes out from its belly. SEE this is the way our almighty god works. He uses his own creation to do wonders.
Whereas in the story of Jonah, God not only makes whale vomit but actually makes her vomit exactly in the place where he was supposed to be at three days back.
Thereafter Jonah completely understands god’s will and does exactly as he should have done.
THE LIFE-SAVING MESSAGE
God himself was so happy as now he would not have to destroy his own creation whom he created in his own image. Whereas Jonah was also jovial to get a new life.
Therefore in the story of Jonah, Jonah also gets a lesson of not breaching god’s order. Hence thereafter all his life he keeps following him and does not breach his orders ever after.
